12 Jun Hiding in the Closet
The University of Santa Monica (USM) offers Masters degrees, Doctorates, and Certificates in “Spiritual Psychology.” The website states that the classes “take place in an uplifting Soul-Centered learning environment that nurtures the awakening of the human Spirit inherent in each student… [providing them] with practical information, tools, and experience for transforming their consciousness and transforming their lives.” The curriculum emphasizes a “culture of giving.”
This might sound wonderful – but why are they hiding the fact that USM was founded by John-Roger and disseminates his teachings? Why is this information buried deep in the fine print on the website? Why is USM not upfront about it? This seems another example of the secrecy perpetrated by MSIA, and intended to dupe the public.
Also, the teachings of MSIA is not what I know of as “spiritual psychology.” I personally have a Masters degree in “spiritual psychology,” an all-inclusive term which includes the breadth of Eastern and Western religions, psychologies, Native traditions, psychedelic research, and mysticism — a very different subject of study than the dogma of one man. This seems duplicitous as well.
On the other hand, I’ve personally met several people who attended USM who give it nothing but glowing reviews. Something good must be going on there because these were people radiating with life force themselves. So who knows? MSIA, come out of the closet!
