

Catherine Auman is a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist (LMFT) based in Los Angeles, California. With over 30 years of experience in the field of mental health, she has helped thousands of clients. Auman’s approach to therapy is holistic, addressing physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and relationship issues. She combines mainstream psychotherapy with alternative ways of knowing and healing, including psychedelics and tantric practices.
Auman is also a multiple award-winning author of twelve books and has appeared as a mental health expert on national TV shows. She offers individual consultation, workshops, and coaching for therapists, mental health professionals, and individuals seeking personal healing and spiritual advancement.
Auman’s experience includes private practice, psychiatric hospitals, chemical dependency treatment centers, residential treatment, and consulting nationally with mental health facilities. She taught psychology and counseling at JFK University, the University of Phoenix, and The Chicago School for Professional Psychology. Auman is a Certified Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). She founded The Transpersonal Center in 2006. In 2011, she was elected by her peers to the State Board of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT). Catherine was awarded CAMFT Certified Supervisor status in 2007 and became an AAMFT Clinical Fellow in 2023. Catherine Auman has frequently appeared as a mental health expert on the national TV show Extra and was featured on an episode of Vice. She is the multiple award-winning author of nine books, and her writings have been published in journals, magazines, and books in the US, Finland, and Norway. In addition to her Master’s degree, she has a B.A. in English and a Certificate in Creative Writing from Berkeley City College.
