Turns out you don’t have to travel to India to meet a guru – one’s available right here in L.A. The concept of a guru is misunderstood in the West, but to many people worldwide it means help from someone more evolved than oneself. Many gurus’ devotees belong to a sangha, the community of spiritual seekers surrounding him or her, and say that the combined energy radically accelerates their transformation. You know, if you’re okay being an average tennis player and rallying with your friends, you don’t need a coach, but if you aim for the big leagues … the same may be true in spiritual life.
Swami Premodaya’s devout followers here in L.A. and internationally will attest to his help in their lives spiritually and personally. Premodaya worked for over 30 years as a therapist and psychiatric administrator before he became a guru so he has profound knowledge of the psychological as well as the spiritual. He has a graduate degree in transpersonal (spiritual) psychology and is a lifetime devotee of Osho. To add to Premodaya’s intense life experience, he was born in a refugee camp after WWII, and his parents were in the concentration camps.
International Centers of Divine Awakening (ICODA)was founded in 2004 by Bodhisattva Shree Swami Premodaya in Los Angeles. The main headquarters is in L.A. with another in Brussels. ICODA offers online and in-person satsangs, discourses, workshops, retreats, community gatherings, and private sessions with Premodaya.
Even if having a guru is not your thing, Premodaya’s kind and gentle nature and stand-up-comic wit may tickle your funny bone and bring you peace and understanding.
