28 Nov Want to Learn the Secret Teachings of All Ages?
Few of the daily commuters passing the PRS building on Los Feliz Boulevard have ever imagined that it holds one of the world’s foremost occult libraries with over 50,000 books. There are so many books on spirituality, religion, and metaphysics that there are even rumored to be secret black magic texts only available with the librarian’s permission.
The Philosophical Research Society (PRS) was founded in 1934 by Manly P. Hall (March 18, 1901 – August 29, 1990). Hall was one of the first writers to make occult teachings available to the mainstream in his book The Secret Teachings of All Ages. Secret Teachings is often considered the most beautiful and complete book on the occult ever written, and it is written in short chapters that are easily digested in a short sitting.
The building also contains the University of Philosophical Research. UPR teaches the world’s wisdom traditions. The school offers three nationally accredited online degree programs (M.A. in Consciousness Studies, M.A. in Transformational Psychology, and Bachelor of Arts program in Liberal Studies).
Unlike the University of Santa Monica, which is a shill organization for the teachings of John-Roger and MSIA, The University of PR is based on the premise of inclusion of all traditions and beliefs, and for the students to decide what they believe for themselves.
