Angel Face, Angel Food

Angel Face, Angel Food

guide to spiritual la, marianne williamsonAnother of LA’s star-shining spiritual rock stars is Marianne Williamson (born July 8, 1952), author of 11 books selling more than 3 million copies, four of which were New York Times bestsellers. Williamson is the spiritual teacher and advisor to many in Hollywood and
beyond, not only through her books but also due to her livestream talks which broadcast worldwide.

Certainly a contributing factor to her success is her angelic good looks, but Marianne Williamson is far from just a pretty face. In 1989, she founded Project Angel Food, a program serving meals-on-wheels to homebound people with AIDS in the LA area. Today, the Angel program has expanded to include people with other serious and disabling illnesses and delivers more than ten thousand meals per week.

Williamson began her public career as a popularizer of The Course in Miracles, a series of books claiming to be the correct interpretations of Jesus’s teachings, channeled with his help. Williamson’s appearance on Oprah spread the word to millions, and many claim to have been profoundly influenced.

A frequent guest not only on Oprah, but also other prominent media outlets such as Good Morning America and Larry King Live, Williamson shares her spiritual message widely. Newsweek magazine named her one of the top fifty most influential baby boomers. She has been increasingly moving into the political sphere, standing as a candidate for Congress in 2013, and encouraging other women to run for office.

Marianne Williamson is one of the few spiritual figures I could find no dirt on. It appears she has generated zero controversy or gossip except for having a daughter whose father she refuses to name. Does anyone care about such things any more? Perhaps Marianne Williamson truly is an Angel in human form. Check her out at http://marianne.com/
